Maca Benefits
In both our personal experiences and our experience as a company we’ve seen that consistently eating high quality Peruvian grown Maca leads to a wide array of benefits for people everyday. Customers write us regularly to share the diverse ways that Maca is helping them.
One postive benefit of Maca that people have noted for 1000s of years is that it works as an energizing tonic. In fact, when Incan rulers conquered the people where Maca was grown 1000s of years ago, they noted that they had more energy than other groups. After they determined that this was due to Maca consumption they had other groups they used as servants eat Maca as well. Unlike coffee or tea, which contain caffeine or teine, Maca does not provide an energy boost by stressing the adrenals. Instead, Maca’s dense array of nutrients combined with special nutrients in Maca called macaenes and macamides provide a boost to the endocrine system thereby enhancing energy. What’s great about the energy Maca gives is that it is sustainable. For most people it elevates energy levels for several hours after taking it.
In recent research Maca has been seen to have a positive effect on people struggling with chronic fatigue. When taken consistently over a period of several weeks, participants in these research studies have reported feeling better and more energized.

MACA FOR LIBIDO AND IMPROVED SEXUAL FUNCTION
It is said that Maca was traditionally banned for teen agers in the high Peruvian Andes because of how it stimulates llibido. But Maca also works for adults. One of the feedbacks we most consistently receive is how Maca is helping people recuperate sexual desire and is promoting healthy sexual function.

Maca’s postiive effects on fertility is how it was first discovered. Long ago, farmers in the Andes noted that livestock which consumed Maca had more and healthier offspring. To this day Maca is used to enhance fertility for both men and women and we’ve had several customers connect the addition of Maca to their conception of a child.
Maca contains seveal amino acids, which are the building blocks of hormones. Research has shown that taking Maca regularly can balance hormones within both men and women. Maca does not contain hormones, but the building blocks from which the body can create them. Because hormones affect various aspects of health, having a balanced and healthy endocrine system can lead to numerous perceived benefits.
MACA FOR REDUCING DEPRESSION
Taken regularly, Maca works to elevate emotional mood. This is most likely a function of the dense nutrition within the root combined with it’s hormone balancing properties and unique nutrients called macamides. Recently, in two studies, Maca was shown to reduce the scores in self assessment depression and anxiety tests.
MACA FOR REDUCING ANXIETY AND STRESS
One of the most interesting traditional uses for Maca is that it was mixed in special teas during dance ceremonies to helps energize and relax participants. Recent studies have also shown that Maca’s positive effects on mood lead to a reduction in self perceived anxiety and stress. That makes Maca very unique, in the sense that it boosts energy without causing any sort of stress.
MACA FOR MENOPAUSE
Maca is well documented for providing relief of the symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats and irritability. We recommend Red Maca to acheive the best results.
Experimental studies have shown that the Black variety of Maca has beneficial effects on learning and memory in experimental animal models. Black Maca improved learning and memory more than the other colors of Maca. Maca is safe for both children and adults and is a great addition to any student’s diet.

One of the most interesting properties of Maca is that it has been seen to improve blood circulation, thereby reducing anemia and improving wound healing time. People on blood pressure medication should monitor themselves carefully when starting to take Maca as their blood pressure may decrease from taking it.
MACA FOR HAIR GROWTH
Not a lot of research has been conducted on this yet, but traditionally Maca has been used to stimulate the growth of hair as well as to prevent hair loss.
MACA FOR ACNE
In circumstances where acne is related to an imbalance of hormones, taking Maca can be productive as a treatment for acne. Of course, since Maca is a food with no known side effects, it’s much easier for the body to process than chemically based acne drugs. We’ve had several customers report positive effects.
MACA FOR IMPROVED SKIN TONE
One common report we receive from our customers is that their skin tone improves when taking Maca regularly. This is most likely due to the strong nutrient content and hormone balancing effects of Maca.

All Maca colors have been linked to improving bone density. This is due to relatively high levels of bio available calcium. Black Maca in particular was found to increase bone density and strength in tests conducted in 2009.
